Now Wait For Last Year

Whew. Hey guys! Sorry about my inactivity... having forgotten to bring my trusted friend the scanner on vacation with me, I'm forced to procrastinate with my Beatlemon comics, but in the meantime, I can submit some completely digital art... I've been on a digital art hype since I got the trial version of Corel Painter XII and... it kicks ass. 8D
I've been reading a lot of sci-fi novels, lately, all by Philip K. Dick, who had an amazing imagination, and "Now Wait For Last Year" is one of them. The main character, Eric Sweetscent (pictured here), is a doctor who works for the most important man on the planet, the Secretary of the United Nations, in a period when the Earth is engaged in a war with two alien species: our allies, the Lilistarians, that look exactly like humans, being our ancestors, are a cold and merciless species that is incredibly economically and militarily advanced but doesn't know values such as broterhood, love or chivalry, and the Reeg, our enemies, that look like monstrous ants but are more similar to humans, on the inside, than one may think. Reeg are hated and disliked because of their beastly looks, but they just wish to defeat the Lilistar people without having to also fight humans (hence the LIVE AND LET LIVE on the translating box), that found themselves fighting on Lilistar's side because they were sorta forced to. It's all a metaphor for World War II, actually.
Travelling in time thanks to a miracolous (yet deadly) drug, Eric will end up having a most important role for the future of the Earth. TO SUM IT UP: AWESOME BOOK. I suggest checking it out. It's really enjoyable and gets you so much into the story it makes you root deeply for the 'good ones'.
More Philip K. Dick fanart to come, I think. I had fun with this one, it didn't even take that much and it came out just as planned.
