Ladies and Gentlemon...
Johnny and Oliver! Oh boy prepare for a wall of text.

Johnny

Age:
Young adult

Bio: Johnny was born and grew up on a rich subtropical island that has very few contacts with Tao Village and its surroundings (although it has a more open relationship with Alomomola Bay). His family, however, is not from there and comes from more familiar areas, being partially Taoish. When he was small, he learned how to survive in the wilderness as he often ventured into the jungle with his friends. As an adult, he moved to the mainland in order to attend University (hopefully I’ll give more details about this thing later). As he established himself in this new home, he decided he also wanted to become a Rescuer, hoping that would help him evolve. This didn’t quite work out as Oliver’s shenanigans got them both locked out of the Rescuers’ guild. The two had never seen each other before, but the circumstances forced them to cooperate and thus they both joined the Rogues, after taking part to Anana’s takeover (but they had no idea what was going on!). He chose to study the science behind elemental moves, and this involves a lot of chemistry and biology.

Personality: Johnny is precise and meticulous. While undoubtedly very clever, he tries not to learn things by heart and would rather learn basic concepts than tiny details. He dislikes not understanding how something works. This is the reason why, despite being technically able to use elemental moves like Ember and Flame Wheel, he prefers not to resort to them until he hasn’t understood their mechanism perfectly, which makes them very efficient. Perhaps for the same reason he hasn’t evolved yet.
He is an insightful person, a hardworker and a science lover. His personality is generally lonely, because he rightfully doesn’t make contact with people he doesn’t share anything with. However, he is truly lovely if he gets to grow attached to someone.
At times, all the events that led Tao to lose most of the guild leaders and the entire Merchants guild make him regret his decision to move, as he didn’t expect to end up in a “disorganized” place. He still manages to carry on however, and after he met some valuable companions he felt even more encouraged to do so.

Trivia: Johnny often uses his own mixtures to produce effects other Pokémon would achieve by simply performing their moves.
His eyes are open most of the times because he’s not a kit anymore, despite not having evolved yet.

Oliver

Age:
Young adult

Bio: Unlike Johnny, Oliver grew up in a big city (anybody can suggest a name for a Tao World London parallel? XD). His family is seemingly of Jipangese descent. Like all other Pokémon that live in big cities, he had to learn how to survive in an environment that can prove itself to be more dangerous than the wilderness. His past is exceedingly foggy and not a lot of it is left, which may lead one to hypothesize that something is up with him. He learned how to hunt for wild prey out in the moorlands and cannot possibly drop the habit of eating meat and eggs, a tendancy that put him in trouble as soon as he set foot in Tao Village as his instinct overtook him while he was applying to become a Rescuer and he tried to attack Fresnel. Taking advantage of Johnny as an innocent bystander, he convinced the Cyndaquil to play along with him in order to make up an excuse for his behavior, a thing that Johnny found utterly confusing. After Anana’s takeover, they both became Rogues.
It is believed that somebody not quite amiable followed him from the city.

Personality:Oliver is a quirky character. He’s very paranoid and worries a lot about seemingly futile matters. He is not very good at talking to people he doesn’t know (however if you get to know him, he definitely speaks quite a lot) and he will need somebody’s support if he is forced to talk to an unknown person. He doesn’t trust many people in Tao and he prefers keeping to himself, but when he opens up he can even be a good friend if he tries. Being a hunter, and having grown up in a complicated place, he has developed deep survival instincts and has learned to take care of himself and himself alone and this may make him seem quite selfish, especially when it comes to food. He is often hungry and eats a lot.
He is quite clumsy and often injures himself, and he’s a bit down on his luck. This is a problem when he hunts, and although he survives by eating wilds while travelling, catching a large prey is fat chance for him and he mostly has to resort to small critters and eggs. He doesn’t like birds a lot.

Trivia: His forehead scar is a remnant from his past that seemingly never wears off. He refuses to speak about it. The notch on his ear is believed to be natural, however. He plays a game called League of Legendaries.

For :iconpmd-explorers:

[EDIT]: Swapped Ice Shard with Swords Dance. I hadn't shown Oliver using any of his moves yet, so I figured I could make a little change. I never liked picturing him using Ice Shard anyway, Swords Dance is more characterizing somehow.
